A KIDS PLAYGROUND

The island is a fantastic destination for families with young children. Each of our primary bus stops conveniently leads to playgrounds and grassy spaces right by the beach. These enjoyable areas are situated at Picnic Bay, Nelly Bay, Alma Bay, and Horseshoe Bay. Additionally, free BBQ facilities and amenities are available at all these spots. Just a brief stroll from Horseshoe Bay's beach, you'll also find Solar City. This sports and recreational center boasts a modern skate park, BBQs, and football fields.

ANIMAL INTERACTIONS

Magnetic Island provides ideal habitats for a range of species both on the land and in the water. The island is home to over 254 species, including vulnerable species such as koalas and green turtles. Magnetic Island has the largest known population of koalas in Northern Australia and is also a site for seasonal turtle nesting and whale watching. Selina Magnetic Island runs daily wildlife tours where you can hold creatures great and small, as well as free lorikeet feeding from 4.15 pm daily.

MARINE PARKS

Situated within the Great Barrier Reef, Magnetic Island is a paradise for water enthusiasts, offering a plethora of aquatic adventures. Numerous daily tours depart from Nelly and Horseshoe Bays, providing access to hidden island spots and connecting you with an array of marine creatures. For impromptu activities, visit Horseshoe Bay and inject excitement with jetskiing, discover tranquility while kayaking, or relish a leisurely paddleboarding experience with the bay’s resident green sea turtles.

LOCAL TIP

Spend an hour meeting our Allied Rock Wallabies at Bremner Point. On the bend that separates Geoffrey from Alma Bay, there’s a branch in the road that takes you out along the Old Jetty Road, it runs alongside the Geoffrey Bay Snorkel Trail and will lead you to some of the island’s coolest rock formation and cute animals. While we prefer wildlife forage for their food, there is a safe list here if you choose to feed them.
